"President Buhari Is Not Among Those Who Craved For The Impeachment Of Governor Ortom" Says Chief Femi Adeshina


A statement signed on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina in Abuja read this: “Even while attending the ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit in Togo, strident attempts were being made to drag President Muhammadu Buhari into the unfolding drama between the executive and the legislature in Benue State.

He also said that “President Buhari will never be part of any unconstitutional act, and any attempt to link him with the inglorious past, when minority number of lawmakers impeached governors, will not stick.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State who recently defected to PDP from APC was served an impeached notice by eight out of 30 members of the Benue State House of Assembly.

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has vowed not to return to the Federal High Court in Abuja where he was standing trial before he left the country. The Federal Government had charged him with treason but Justice Binta Nyako granted him bail after 18 months in detention. Kanu had flouted all the terms of the bail before the military invaded his Abia residence on September 14, 2017. He fled afterwards and resurfaced in Jerusalem on Friday. In a broadcast via  Radio Biafra , Kanu boasted that the Nigerian court lacked the capacity to try him.
